  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp ube extract
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 package instant dry yeast
  • ⅓ cup ube halaya jam (for filling)
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream (for topping)
  • ½ cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup confection sugar

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and mix with yeast; let it froth for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine egg, softened butter, and sugar; mix well.
  3. Add flour and salt; knead until slightly sticky.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (30 minutes).
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing ube jam, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly on top.
  7. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into equal portions.
  8. Place rolls in a greased pan and let rise again (30 minutes).
  9. Pour heavy cream over the rolls and bake at 350°F for 21–23 minutes.
  10. Prepare frosting while baking; spread on cooled rolls.
