  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Soak panko bread crumbs in milk until fully absorbed.
  3. Sauté diced onion in butter until fragrant; add minced garlic and cook for another few minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, soaked bread crumbs, cooled onion mixture, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and salt; mix gently.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf on the baking sheet and create a crisscross pattern on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes while preparing the sauce by mixing ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  7. After 40 minutes, spread the sauce over the meatloaf and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
