  • 1.5 lbs ribeye or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 6 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 Asian pear or red apple, grated
  • 1 tbsp gochujang, optional
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup mushrooms (shiitake or white button), sliced
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil, for cooking
  • 2 tbsp honey butter (mix 1 tbsp melted butter + 1 tbsp honey)
  • Cooked rice
  • Lettuce leaves or perilla leaves, for wrapping
  • Extra sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, grated pear/apple, gochujang (if using), and black pepper. Add beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Sauté onions and carrots until tender-crisp; set aside.
  3. Cook marinated beef in batches for 2–3 minutes on each side until caramelized. Drizzle with honey butter before removing from heat.
  4. Add cooked vegetables back to the pan for a minute. Serve hot over rice or wrapped in lettuce leaves.
