  • 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup (130 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the brownie layer: Cream butter and sugars, mix in egg and vanilla, then combine dry ingredients and add chocolate chips.
  3. For the chocolate chip layer: Cream cold butter and sugars, add eggs and vanilla, incorporate dry ingredients gradually, and fold in more chocolate chips.
