  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (slurry, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, pepper, and salt until just combined. Shape into 4 patties.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear patties until browned on both sides (about 4-5 minutes per side). Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms until softened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add beef broth, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Return patties and simmer for about 10 minutes until cooked through.
